Seems a lot of cranking could be avoided with a couple electric ice cream makers. Work smarter, not harder!

Got it. I was suffering under the illusion that 'size maters'. :(
It might be bigger than 3 gal by a gal or so.....
There is no plugging it in.
When I was a kid at homemade ice cream parties, part of the fun was taking turns on the crank.

So, maybe I'm still a kid at heart.
That's not all bad, :)

I was not planning on JC this year. But now I see an ice cream chalenge. Take a look at the dasher in the electric freezer and the one in the old style hand crank. The electric is single action and the hand crank is double action. Double action makes better ice cream. More work but you get what you work for.

Whit Mountain is my favorite.

The secret to the White Mountain Ice Cream Makers is the triple-motion dasher. At the very center or the makers is a unique twin-blade dasher. The most center blade turns clockwise while the other blade turns counter clockwise, which are in a canister that also turns clockwise. This triple-motion action mixes and folds the ingredients completely creating smooth and creamy homemade ice cream.

Re: 2012 Annual Summer Fly-in at Johnson Creek, ID

After our initial effort of ice cream at JC last summer we have come up with some modifications to our plan. Obviously more freezer capacity, but the biggest help will be smaller bowls, or maybe a serving size Nazi. Maybe the gun used to announce dinner could be used. We had fun providing the ice cream, and we are glad everyone that got some enjoyed it. As usual there will chocolate chip cookies and huckleberry topping to go with it. I'm already scrounging for more freezers. The bigger problem may be the ever increasing number of attendees(Zane-ites)that come to hear his latest utterances and bask in his presence, and of course buy his Backcountry T shirts.
I find it interesting that while flying all year, I start planning everything else around this weekend. I look forward to seeing you all and buying another T shirt.

We were wanting to fly each day and find some places that you can camp by your plan on our way out. We are looking for some places like JC that have Facilites if any of you know some cool places or tell me how to find that info I would greatly appreciate it. I am flying a Rans S7 and my friend is flying a Maule and possibly couple other guys going but not 100% on them yet. Thanks Lonnie

RC,
Be sure and hit the pilots campground at West Yellowstone, they have lots of loaner bikes for the short ride into town (and the IMAX theatre, where you can watch a big screen aerial depiction of the Park, after flying in  ). Free firewood, showers etc etc. Keep in mind the biggest, some say the best, mountain flying in Idaho is on the east side of the state! I just have to stick up for "my" side! The Frank Church gets all the press, but just going there would be like going to California and just seeing DisneyLand. And don't forget about Montana, it could be a very busy 10 days.

New guy here. Am trying to sell plane camping to the boss wife and think this would be a great starting point. We both did a lot of hiking when we were younger, and love the outdoors. My off (paved) airport experience is all in rotors, so am looking forward to that as well. Have watched several videos of the approach and it looks pretty straight forward. For you experienced hands some questions: Looks like McCall is a good spot to load ice and the most perishable items for food. Correct? I have a 180 horse 172 so I'm thinking of arriving with half tanks to give me a margin on take-off. Yes/No? I am a novice at this so any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You will do fine with 180HP. McCall is the best spot for real shopping. Yellow Pine is good for beer, whiskey, ice. Good bar, restaurant, and local people. JC has 2 vans and they go back and forth to YP all day long. $8.00 for all the friends you can cram in. They seat 8

I was told the spots were assigned in descending order of hours logged in multi-engined amphibious helicopters. I sit at 2700 in the HH3F

I'll probably come over in a 180hp 172 this year myself.

Hmm :-k I'll be home the weekend before this fly in. Maybe I'll have to take a spin up to JC and leave a "Reserved for Burson's Mall" sign in the grass up there. :D

And another sign "NO Generators! Your fellow campers would like to enjoy the peace and solitude of the mountains here"

Maybe we need to line up by the number of JC fly-ins you've attended. Or better yet, maybe those with a little boy with a birthday that day should be near the front of the line. :D

Well, sharing a plane has its +'s and -'s. Looks like I drew the short straw for the weekend of the BCP fly-in. I am trying to line up another ride. We shall see.

Rob/Paco:

We (Joey, and maybe Svanarts, maybe some so cal guys) right now are planning on leaving early AM on Tue the 19th. Our usual route (open to a change!) is crossing Sierra's over the 80 (Blue Canyon), then stopping for gas at Denio (mogas). Unless you do Winnemucca, not a lot of fuel options. Then up to McCall to top off before heading in. Some variation of that. Maybe Susanville.

When you guys headed up?

Re: 2012 Annual Summer Fly-in at Johnson Creek, ID

I haven't decided for sure when we are leaving. I have the 11th through the 29th off from work but it will depend on Stacey's schedule for when we can leave. It would be fun to fly with you guys in a group but I won't know for sure what day we are leaving until we get closer. I was thinking about topping off at Nervino since there aren't a lot of good fuel options in between (I don't have an auto gas STC for Denio). That would give me enough range to make it into Idaho, probablly Payette S75. You might want to get gas there too, its a lot cheaper than McCall and they have auto gas for $4.15 for you guys. We might stop and camp at Owyhee Reservoir on the way in.
