I would say yes. Most people do arrive on Friday (or earlier) and some do straggle in on Sat for the potluck / raffle and to say "hi".

Thanks. Trying to see what time I get off work that Friday, which depends on what commercial flight I can get on out of Denver/Cheyenne to Boise (suck!), and in turn what time I get back. It might be pretty damn close to getting dark out :(. Setting up camp in the dark even if I drive up kind of stinks...

Lots of people come early and stay extra days, some come Friday-Sun, and lots do just one night.... Be a Honey Badger, do what you want!

It's a fun time no matter how you plan it!

Don't forget about the free handgun tactical course on Saturday at the range across the street!

One of the Gadsden Air Corps guys would love to set up your tent for you. send an email to me at fly at wilgabeast.com if you want and we can make advance plans to set your tent up for you before you get there. We will be there all week leading up to the event, if you can get your tent to us, we'll set it up Saturday night.

Maybe one of the local BCP guys can find a local person selling GOOD DRY wood DELIVERED. Me and the other Oregon boys will pay. That will be our contribution to the group.

Cheers...Rob

I made contact with Lamar, he is a friend of scottf. Wood will be delivered Wednesday the 25th $250.00 any other Oregon guys want to pitch in PM me. LittleJohn is in.

Cheers...Rob

Put me down for $25 on the wood Rob. I can paypal you now or square up with you at the fly-in, whichever you prefer.

Thanks for lining it up, Matt.

I may just come up Saturday late morning or early afternoon if I get home from Elko late Friday night from work. My house in Emmett is only about an hour or so drive. It will be nice to at least come for the potluck and eat everybody's food. I'll bring something, too.

I thought I'd pop over from our house in Cascade. Flight time: Approximately 10 minutes. I'll be the goofball in the bonanza.

Ohh geese, thank you very much for your generosity and assistance. Certainly wasn't expecting this. It would be Friday, but if things pan out and this turns out to be the magic element that makes things happen, I might just have to send you an e-mail!

Re: BCP Annual Fly-In 27-29 June 2014 @Garden Valley, ID

Hello everyone!

I'm the liaison representing BCP for this year's Idaho fly-in gathering.

I've been asked to remind everyone of standard operating procedures at Garden Valley, ID, (U88).

Here's a link to download a PDF of the SOP. http://airlinesoftware.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/U88_sop.pdf

Please take the time to review the link.

I also recommend if you don't have it already, the Johnson Creek procedure: http://airlinesoftware.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/3U2_sop.pdf

Let's keep it safe, and enjoy our fly-in!

On an unrelated note:
I will have an 80gal MOGAS tank on our Air Corps pickup truck (backcountry SAR fuel truck) with a metered pump available for folks who want MOGAS. It'll be available the entire week leading up to the event, as well as the weekend. Cost will be whatever the pump cost is for the ethanol free gas station in town. If folks want to pool cash for each trip into town to re-fill, that'll be fine. The Gadsden Air Corps will gladly accept donations to help cover the expense of running into town and for bringing the truck to the fly-in - but it's certainly not going to be solicited or required. We certainly don't want to be running a commercial fueling operation, and we want to have fun too, so we'll be limiting the hours of operation to only a few aircraft each day.

My contact information leading up to (and during) the event is as follows:

I'm good to assist with the firewood cost.. We'll also be bringing a truck with a bunch in the bed as well. I like the idea of a larger shared pit - I enjoy meeting you aviators.

Re: BCP Annual Fly-In 27-29 June 2014 @Garden Valley, ID

During the Fly-in, we will be hosting a handgun course for all levels of shooters.
Instructor will be Wallace Brown, Former U.S. Army Rangers, and deployed Private Security Contractor. (we'll post a more in-depth bio perhaps)

Cost: FREE for Backcountry Pilot's

Bring:
Your sidearm/conceal carry weapon of choice.
200 Rounds Target Ammo
2 extra Magazines
Mag drop pouch (if you don't want to drop into the dirt while changing)

When:
Saturday June 28th at 2pm

The Gadsden Air Corps will supply targets, safety officers and trash bags.

Please plan on sticking around and helping with cleanup afterwords, people that marshal their own garbage+ are WIN.

If you have a firearms instruction background and wish to volunteer as a safety officer, please visit with an Air Corps member before the class (we will be easy to find several days leading up to the class)

I can go in on wood as well! For the HSF we went through 2 cords in 3 nights...just an FYI...1 large fire ring is a must! It's one of the best parts of a fly-in!

Looking forward to it!

Re: BCP Annual Fly-In 27-29 June 2014 @Garden Valley, ID

I've been asked to post a couple quick reminders about Big Creek and how absolutely awesome it is!

You are likely in the final throes of getting your plans together for your big Idaho trip, and we look forward to seeing you here.

As you are probably aware, the IAF is sponsoring a breakfast at the Big Creek Lodge site on Saturday June 28 from 8-10am. We hope many of you will find your way up there—Big Creek served about 75 breakfasts last year for us.

I want to underscore why the Big Creek Lodge is so important to the flying public. Big Creek will be the ONLY ‘for public use only’ lodge available for pilots in the Idaho backcountry. Every place we enjoy for breakfast, or an overnight stay is privately held—and can close to our use at any time. Mackay Bar is the most recent case in point…we may no longer land there. However, when Big Creek Lodge opens again, it MUST be open to the public as dictated by IAF's USFS agreement. There are many who don’t understand this and believe that the lodge will become a ‘good ol boy’ lodge—and nothing could be further from the truth.

Grab the PDF here:
http://airlinesoftware.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/IAFBigCreekBreakfasts2014.pdf

Fly safe, I can't wait to see you all at Garden Valley!
