Love the pic of the family with the plane.
You also might be the primary user of Gravelly Valley!!! I'm down in the South Bay - I really need to get up there and check it out... once I have a plane again!!
On Saturday we loaded up the family and took a trip to Furnace Creek in Death Valley National Park. We rented a Jeep from Farabee's Jeep Rentals to see the sights. We had planned to stay the night at the resort but had a change of plans. At about 4pm my cell phone picked up service and I got blasted with text messages. I had left a key to my house so our friend Justin (dudestickle) could take care of our dog. It turned out to be the wrong key and Tieton was locked inside. We decided it would be best to fly home. Even though our trip was cut short we still had a great day. I'd love to go back when we have more time. The park is huge and there's a lot to do and see.

Sand dunes at the southern end of Eureka Valley
Ubehebe Crater
Mesquite Flat sand dunes near Stovepipe Wells
Furnace Creek Airport, 210ft below sea level
Our Jeep was waiting for us with the keys in it when we landed

Holes in the wall at Hole in the Wall
Loaded up to make it across the Sierras before sunset
It's times like this that the 180 really shines. Taking off from below sea level with a full load I turned west directly towards some 6-7k peaks 10 miles away. We climbed straight over them passing through 8500ft in less than 10 minutes. In less than 17 minutes we were level at 12,500ft at a true airspeed over 150mph racing to get across the Sierras before nightfall.

I used to be a C-130 Loadmaster so I couldn't resist getting this picture at Visalia while stopping for fuel.
Logged 1.3 night hours flying back up the Valley to Rio Vista

Thanks, Cory. We were planning on lunch at Panamint Springs and a stop at the Chicken Strip the next day. I'd like to get down to the Chicken Strip before it gets too hot for some camping.

That must be the same "Paco" that comes up here to the San Juan islands and spends a good part of the summer camped out on Orcas Islands Eastsound airport. Nice guy, and hope to see him again here this next summer.
Had a great day of flying and hanging out at the beach with the family. We landed the grass runway at Monterey Bay Academy. There was a mini fly in going on there that we didn't know about and we met some nice people.
