Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

That looks like Butler's Tanker 66? Took a tour of that thing when it was based in Wenatchee in 2000 or 2001. Pretty neat to see those things up close. Alex do you know if it is still in use?

Just borrowing them from a friend. Figured I would try before I buy. Bought the STC from ABW to legal. They sure are fun to fly with. It's hard to make a bad landing.

I'm doing great. I haven't been flying much. I've been doing a bunch of skiing and traveling instead. Since September, I've been to BC by car about 4 times, plus I've been to India and England. The wife left for Singapore this morning. Then she's going to Peru, then back to India. That should give me some alone time to get the Husky out.

My son is in his first year at boarding school on Vancouver Island. I'd love to fly up to visit him but, it seems there just aren't many airstrips up there to make it convenient. I've been drooling over floats on the internet but, just don't know if I need the extra financial hit right now - let alone the increase in insurance. We'll see as time goes on.

I don't know much about these tankers. I was driving by Madras Oregon and I needed a break from the road. The light was great so, what the heck. No one was around. It was very quiet but beautiful.

Madras was my second stop on my way home. I checked out the Sandy airport too. Couldn't stay long as I was interrupting the filming of an episode of "Gold Rush Alaska." I saw the big dude but decided to leave him alone and not get his autograph.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Thanks guys! This is experimental #2 for me but I think this one is a keeper. I'm looking forward to finding out just how much utility I can get out of this little bird. She itching to go camping and so am I. Hoping to make it to JC if not this year then definitely next. I'll be camping my way to OSH and back at the very least.

Re: Where did you fly today?

My wife and I took advantage of a well sustained high pressure system to go ski flying, camping, and skiing in the Talkeetna Mountains this last weekend. We returned to a glacier we had visited the weekend before. The weather and snow co-operated.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Zane,

I would be honored. I think I could have gotten the plane and tent a little sharper, but I did not have a remote or a cable release and it was too damn cold to fuss with the timer.

By the way, when you head north I have an old Subaru you can use, if you still need a vehicle.
