Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Re: Where did you fly today?

Thanks ROBW56 for the tip.

Approach to Drake, was so hazy with the sun in my eyes , was hard to see the runway when low.

robw56 Yes that is an Enduro, the other a Cannondale Carbon RZ 140, both great for the kind of ride, and take out tires and setas and fit perfect in the 182 rear seats.

Re: Where did you fly today?

I really like the Enduro, I wish I would have got one now instead of my Stumpjumper FSR, It's still a great bike but the Enduro is much better on the downhill sections.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Merrill to Kenai and back for my first xc. Great weather for it, too. Once we climbed out and crossed Turnagain Arm I was really able for the first time to just kinda sit back, relax, and really look out the window and appreciate what it's like to fly. I think I'm hooked. Bad.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Last weekend, I did a local flight around the area to get some simulated instrument time. Nothing exciting, but chalking up some hours is good. I'm planning on making a trip down to the Corpus Christi area in a month or two, if I can get some time away from work.

Re: Where did you fly today?

First time in the left seat of a powered plane since 1993! Took a Discovery flight in a DA-40 this morning. Lots of fun, and even after 18 years, I still remember how to fly. Y'all got some new calls with ATC though..."line up and wait"?!?!? We did a quick out and back: KAPA - KFTG - KAPA. There were four Canadian T-6 II's on the ramp at APA...cool!

Got to fly right seat in a C-185 today to break in some new cylinders. My first time in a 180/185.
Left upwind for runway 13 at SNY. Winds 140@24/G29.

The faster I go , the farther behind I get.

Where did you fly today?

Flew my 170 for the first time in a few weeks down to Talkeetna for a flight review. Decided to do the flight portion in a 90hp Champ instead of my bird. Champ made me look bad. Me no like Champ ;) Must have been the winter rust. Yes, that must be it.

Seriously, it was fun playing around in it again. Reminded me how docile my 170 is in the air compared to lighter birds.

I had a nice flight yesterday to Laramie, Pine Bluffs for gas, and a short hop back to Skyview Airpark just after sunset.

Re: Where did you fly today?

No pictures and no flying for me, but driving by Creech Air Force Base north of Las Vegas I was treated to the drone pilots practicing touch and goes with the Predator drones. I don't know what sort of automatic steadying equipment they have on board, but the approaches on final were quite smooth, even though it was a gusty, thermaly afternoon. It would be interesting to know how many hours those guys get in training before they earn their wings. Next time maybe I'll park along the road and try to take some pictures. Maybe not. Some TSA guys would probably jump me.

While in Vegas, Nellis AFB is great for plane watching! The base is on the northeast side of town next to the speedway. I've seen cars parked along North Las Vegas Blvd all day long with no troubles. Sometimes it get's boring with the same type of fighter jets in and out. But I've been there a few times where it seemed like they were flying everything the military had in it's hangars. I'm talking every make and model of fighter jets including the Stealth fighter and Bomber, B52's, B1B's, you name it. Pretty cool!

I've also seen Drones flying low along I-10 in New Mexico. I think they have a base at the Las Cruces airport.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Ohio is very cold, windy, but clear today.

We had some cabin fever to work off. A Husky, a Super Cub, a Rans S7, 2 Champs, 3 Scouts, a Varga, 3 C172's with big rubber, and a helicopter were out having some good times.

We filled the ramp at Carroll County for breakfast, did an impromptu corn field fly-in, some hills, some water, and a couple new farmer approved pasture fields.
