Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

For whatever reason those are some of my best landings - they're not normally short though. Did you have runway lights? Sounds like fun!

Blackrock...no lights on the grass strip.....did two landings in the dark, had it stopped in about 500ft both times. Remember this is my home field and finding the runway in the dark is not a problem..there are lighted landmarks (houses et.c) in the vacinity from where I get my bearings. Actually one of my landmarks is Cabelas watertower that I pass on 1 mile final.

Just out looking for snow to ski on...Leaving for Alaska in 7 days...

Put up a bunch of photos from yesterdays flight on my blog of all the new snow in Tahoe. We have had only 1 storm this year. It dropped around 4-5 feet above 8000'.

Re: Where did you fly today?

I took one of my favorite co-pilots with me on a trip to 00S yesterday. It was a beautiful day! We saw some snowmobile tracks on top, and we met up with my flying partner at the airstrip. He has a cabin over there.

There are a lot of really cool polished videos posted on this site which makes mine look pretty raw, but I kind of like this one that way. I left some engine noise in there also cause I kind of like that too! Wish I would have cleaned the bugs off of the wind screen though. Dave Ramsey hasn't approved the purchase of one of those HD170's yet so it's all shot with the i-phone. The landing was actually pretty smooth, but my assistant cameraman is six (he films the take off's and landings for me!) so I hope you don't get car sick! The taxiing was a little bumpy. I left the volume up so you can here Mason's reaction to that. I laugh every time!

This is why I fly!

Thats awesome Clippwagon. Kinda hit a soft spot on this Dad/Pilot. My son is 4 and we are fortunate enough to get to fly together a lot. Those days will stick with our boys for the rest of their lives.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Clippwagon,

Watching Mason's face plinking those cans brought back alot of good memories also. Both of my boys received a Chipmunk .22 rifle on their 5th birthday. It is a bolt action, peep site, manual cock, proportionately sized youth rifle that is Made in USA. The company has changed since I originally purchased, 20 years ago, but I found the link to the new company. I still have the rifles in the safe, and can't wait for the chance to spend time watching my sons teach their children the correct way to handle a firearm.

"Treat all guns as if they are loaded,.....................and keep them loaded, cause thay ain't worth a shit if they are not loaded"

I don't mean to jump the thread, but wanted to share the Chipmunk Rifles. Will repost in "The Sporting Life" also.

Thanks for the nice comments. It's pretty special and important to me to spend time investing in my two kids and aviation makes that even sweeter! What more can a guy ask for!

He has some time behind a 22, but the BB gun was the weapon of choice for this trip. I wish I would have caught that full can of soda exploding!

Where did you fly today?

Flew to JB Golf today. I used to fly my Champ in there years ago. Never could get my RV in there. A superior pilot probably could have. It's one of the strips I really missed flying into. I buzzed the strip a bunch of times over the past few months but the trees were overgrown and I couldnt get the Coyote in either. He must have gotten the message because last week the trees were trimmed back and the approach is clear again. So this morning I packed my golf clubs into the plane and flew in for a nice round of golf. You have to love a golf course that you can land on.

Tell Jerry that Boone asked about him. Jerry introduced me to that strip. When are you flying in there? That strip needs a Hansen flying in.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Friday was one of those days where I looked outside at work and thought "sheesh, with this nice weather, I really should go flying...". So, Saturday I got out for some sightseeing up to Driggs and my first "hundred dollar" (I wish it was only that!) lunch. My first time flying over terrain that even can count as terrain. Couldn't have asked for better conditions. :D

Doing my best to make the dream a reality!

Re: Where did you fly today?

It must have been great being one of the Spanish explorers naming things in a place you thought would be at the end of the world forever. In Central Kalifornia we got the Panoche Valley. What were they thinkin' about? On the central coast of Kal, there is a place that used to be called, Arroyo de las Frijoles. (now unfortunately called Bean Hollow) What had those guys been eating? But everyone's favorite has to be Le Grande Tetons. It's pretty clear to me those guys was lonesome out there in the wild west.

Further north, on the haul road, we have, Dolly Parton Hills, Beaver Slide, Finger Rock, etc.

Great pics McKim. Here's to hoping you get your own 7BCDC sometime soon. There's a pretty decent looking 11CC out there in Minot priced pretty good. You'll fit better than you do in that Zodiac. You'll also learn what a rudder is.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Tried a tailwheel mount on my new Drift HD Action Cam. Airport is KGHG, Marshfield, MA...about 20 miles south of Boston on the coast. Plane is a homebuilt Bushcaddy R-120. Go easy on comments on the landing...my first flight in 30 days
