If you ever have the chance, I hope you will get to visit the SE part of Alaska. Floatplane paradise.

Hope you enjoy

Bill

That video was great, definitely on my bucket list!
Now I need to get back to work on my floats.

What all have you done to them? Just paint? Or were they a used purchase that you've fixed up?

I have a fantasy about building a float kit for the Bearhawk, but that's so far off.

uhhh Halestorm. What motor is on that thing ? I like the looks of that. A-lot . Just curious , do you end up flying a lot of the time with a few folks who grab the whole plane or is it full seats and gear most of the time ? . Just trying to gather real world info on those .

Kenmore Otters all have P&W PT6A-34 installed, a lovely engine.

Business is 99% butts in seats, the airplanes have leather seats and wool carpets. At the peak of the summer flying season there's 5 scheduled departures from Seattle every day with usually 18-20 airplanes operating per flight. Most passenger pickups are from docks scattered around the puget sound but beachings are not uncommon.

Picture I posted was actually picking up some maintenance employees from the annual seasons end campout.

Congratulations Jake. I take it that is the third partner in the plane standing with you.

First flight into this airspace in the floatplane today.

ATC kept calling us a Caravan despite our corrections.

Yup, Pete took his checkride first. We have a new hangar in New Richmond together. We took a victory lap/splash around the neighborhood to celebrate.

Eating breakfast at Crane Lake MN last Sat morning. I was getting some instruction from Brian who is based at Tower Mn. Brian in the middle and Henson from Germany on the left and Newton on right. They flew the owner of a Gulfstream from Shanghai over to Rochester and got their seaplane ratings while waiting.

Greenville Seaplane Fly-In.

In the background is the Katahdin; the 100 year old ship where the Seaplane Pilot's Association happy hour cruise, and breakfast, take place.

Pretty neat Jake. I gave a 95 year old friend a ride in the plane shortly before you got it. He said he'd seen the Cubs flying in France when he was in WW2 but never got to ride in one.

Re: Photo Thread: Float Flying

I am glad to see this thread I started years ago is still around. Float season is over here in Maine, and I have been playing with some drone footage from a few weeks back. We spent a few hours with the drone and our Husky before she went on to her next owner later that week.
