Got em Mapleflt. Some of the most fun flying there is, when it warms up a little in the spring.

A few weeks ago we rolled this one out of the shop and sent her home to Texas. About a year of work went into this one. IO-550, prop, paint, avionics, interior, new amphibs, ect...

Re: Photo Thread: Float Flying

With my amphib AOG for two months waiting for MT to overhaul the prop, I must resort to gazing at old photos and look forward to this summer! :D

Re: Photo Thread: Float Flying

Pierre,

I am curious, where did you send your prop for overhaul? 2 months seems like a long time. Tiffin Aire in Tiffin, Ohio is able to do full overhauls on MT props, I toured their facility last year and was very impressed. I was under the impression only MT in Florida could do overhauls, not so. I had a MT prop overhauled in Florida, good job, very happy with the work but it took a long time. My next overhaul will go to Tiffin Aire, less lead time.

It's important to get the teenaged pilots involved! (Also very handy for carrying gear legs, running the chain hoist...)

I wish I had heard of them. I sent mine to MT in Florida. I had stainless steel leading edges and wanted to upgrade to nickel. They were out of replacement blades so mine went to Germany, increasing time from 4-6 weeks to two months.

Re: Photo Thread: Float Flying

You guys are killing me.

Salt in the wound here is that I live 1 block from a large (2.5 miles x 1/4 mi) private urban lake in the Portland area. I have an easement access to the lake with docks that we use to put our canoe in. Could put some EDO 2000s on the Pacer and have a great summer. Float planes allowed? No way. This is like blue balls of the worst degree. Locals always say "yeah floats would be great but where do you keep your plane if you're on straight floats?" Well, practically in my backyard, but this is suburban Oregon, not Alaska or Minnesota. Sorry.

I just chugged an IPA. Feeling saucier than usual.
