Last day of this years float flying in NW Ontario. Good timing as the snow started the next morning.

Re: Photo Thread: Float Flying

I don't do much commercial work with my amphib, but this is the second time I got a call for a photo shoot at a Lake Tahoe waterfront home. Last time, Mark Zuckerberg wound up buying the place.

This was Wednesday. One of those perfect October days on Tahoe. Almost no wind all day and only minor boat traffic. Tough work, and some of the staff could be demanding, but somebody's gotta do it. :D

^^^ Stunning! ^^^

I'm selfishly glad you titled that "A few to start", instead of "Here's all I got, then I'm tapped out"! Please keep 'em coming.

Cheers,

Yeah, I’m starting to get a “little” jealous, but don’t stop now. I still have more sea time than land time, but creeping up on it. I do miss float flying, though.

Solid! I love that dock. The kid in the baby carrier is cute too. And i guess the rifle... What make/model is that? Is the trigger guard also the lever? Never seen that.

Beautiful pictures Angus. I have a soft spot in my heart for drop block rifles, and taking pictures of them with airplanes in awesome settings just makes them even better. Keep on sharing!

Yes, it is a lever. Called a dropping block or falling block, they are a single action rifle. Very nice rifles, I like them.

The other fellas nailed it, it’s a falling block, Winchester 1885. Actually my eldest boy’s rifle. Couple of Beaver shots,

I would call that a Martini action. I have 22 BSA like it.

I've heard that name used as well, it may have been an "old" patent name of some sort. I have a 22 K-Hornet in a "Martini" action, interestingly there isn't a safety in the design but there is a "cocked" indicator.

Another "thread drift" avoidance picture

I can’t take credit. I was in the 170. Tom George flew the photo 185, and Hugh Rose is the photographer. But you’re right, it’s a great photo.

Looks like a low wall as opposed to a high wall.
Is it a vintage rifle, or one of the later reproductions? And what caliber?
My favorite uncle had an original highwall chambered in 30-40 Krag,
he had it re chambered to 30-40 Ackley.
He also had a Ruger #3 in 30-40, rechambered to the Ackley version.
His son owns the highwall now, had it re-barrelled to 25-06.
