On another note, a Fireboss, helicopter, and Aero commander were off the NE end of my strip fighting a Forest fire last night. Was working on a tractor and heard low flying planes. Thought one of my buddies was doing a low pass. No one landed, so I walked to the middle of the strip and saw the water bombers dropping water. Luckily there is a lake right there by the fire and the helicopter was sure making quick pickups and drops.

That sure would have been funn to watch!

Re: Photo Thread: Float Flying

Flying floats is really the thing as far as I'm concerned. The summer season has started here and I'm loving it. Have flown everyday since May 30th and none of it has been on wheels.

Ground crew strapping a canoe onto my float while a turbine Otter and Kodiak depart in the background. This picture just says "Summer in Alaska."

This lake is very aptly named and even with rough water requires glassy water technique. This picture was not filtered or edited and the lake is really that color. Lake Clark National Park is just too majestic almost. Picture from a few days ago dropping off boaters,

Same lake earlier today dropping off backpackers,

Have been doing some float rating training in this taylorcraft after work. It's pure fun. I'm 6'4" and 240 lbs so it leaves some performance to be desired but makes the student really learn how to get on step. If they can do it in this with me in there with them, they can do it in anything. A fun little plane and the look on people's faces when they first fly floats is awesome.

Re: Photo Thread: Float Flying

I did my Flight Review in Adventure Seaplanes 185 a week ago. Brian put a 550 and Voyager prop on not long ago and I really like it. This is its summer home in Tower MN. We did all water work but I did taxi it up the ramp out of the water.

Is Brian happy with that 550 and specifically the Voyager prop?

Very happy. He has the Seaplanes West engine mount too so it is as good as it gets.

Re: Photo Thread: Float Flying

Did a half day excursion today with a group that asked to have some time on the ground somewhere beautiful to do a 30 minute meditation. It was one of my favorite requests by clients I’ve ever received, and I think I delivered.

Somewhere in Lake Clark National Park

Now boarding

Finally a photo worthy of this thread.
Angel is ready to board to escape the Seattle heat.

Yes, a boarding ramp would be appreciated. She doesn’t care for the current grab and stuff approach.

What floats are those, and do you like them? Browsing floats for my M6/7 project.
